…fruit flies like a banana. (Groucho Marx)
I’ve been slack with posting here, and I think it’s lame to have a blog that you never post to, so I will strive for more as we move forward. I have scribbled down several ideas for posts in the last couple of weeks but have not managed to write them out, so here they are:
1) go see the film Easy A, starring Emma Stone, if you get a chance. It’s written and directed by Will Gluck, creator of smart comedy like The Loop (TV) and Fired Up (film). Stone does a great job in this Scarlet-Letter-meets-high school tale, but there is also hilarious work by Stanley Tucci and the rest of the supporting cast.
2) the Netflix Canada trial is working out pretty well for me. I don’t really care that they don’t have many recent blockbusters. They do have a lot of good art house pictures, a bunch of popular older movies that I missed at the time, and British TV series. Plus a respectable amount of MST3K and Dr. Who.
3) been watching a fair amount of the new TV season, and not much stands out. Returning shows like Community and Vampire Diaries are still strong, but Will Arnett’s show is not very funny, Lone Star was good but got cancelled after 2 episodes (Fox!), The Event is underwhelming so far. On the bright side I have been catching up on gems from smaller American networks (Justified, Leverage, Eastbound and Down, Hung, Psych, The 4400) and the UK (Misfits, The Inbetweeners).
It’s been busy lately with work, hence the no posting. When I’m not working, I spend time with Nicole and/or Jack, work on the graphic novel thing, hang out with friends sometimes, and lately play a lot of Mario Kart. Life is good. :)
And so, back at it. Later, gators.
